New! Please check our EDBT tutorial on “Entity Resolution: past, present and yet-to-come.”
I currently work as an Internal Auditor of Information Systems at PPC S.A. (ΔΕΗ Α.Ε.) and a research fellow at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens. My research focuses on Entity Resolution in the context of large-scale, heterogeneous data and on Web Data Mining, in general.
Until recently, I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens, under the supervision of Prof. Manolis Koubarakis. I was also a member of the Management of Data, Information and Knowledge Group (MADgIK).
Prior to MADgIK, I was with the Institute for the Management of Information Systems of Athena RIC, with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) working with Prof. Theodora Varvarigou, with the L3S Research Center working with Prof. Wolfgang Nejdl and with NCSR “Demokritos” working with Researcher George Paliouras.
I received my PhD degree in Computer Science in 2013 from the Leibniz University of Hanover under the supervision of Prof. Wolgang Nejdl and Prof. Themis Palpanas. The title of my thesis was “Blocking Techniques for Efficient Entity Resolution over Large, Highly Heterogeneous Information Spaces“.
I received my 5-year Diploma on Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007 from NTUA. I carried out my diploma thesis at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” under the supervision of Researcher Georgios Paliouras and Prof. Timos Sellis. The title of my diploma thesis was “An Intelligent Information System that Maintains Citation Networks from the Web”.
